
This course is aimed at planners new to Victorian Planning, such as those fresh out of university or those coming from another jurisdiction. It covers the basics of how to use the planning system as a new planner.
Topics covered include:
- The structure and content of planning schemes
- The basics of issuing planning permits.
- How to make a decision.
This course can optionally be followed by Absolute Beginners: Using ResCode, which introduces the basics of the provisions about residential development.

Suggested timing: 1 day or two sessions of three hours.

Level: This course is primarily aimed at early career planners from beginner to intermediate. However the involvement of more experienced staff is welcomed to encourage team development and knowledge sharing.
